Here comes the bride…
Yesterday it was hard to miss the nuptials of Harry and Meghan – wedding fever took over the shop as we watched my favourite royal wedding to date. Although we were fascinated by the celebrity guests, adorable bridesmaids and the beautiful setting we were keeping a close eye
on the sartorial choices most of all! We gave a little glimpse of our favourites on our IG stories yesterday (you can follow us on IG here…) we thought we’d delve a little deeper into our favourite choices.
Our favourite was Amal Clooney, dressed in beautiful Stella McCartney, she rocked this impeccably cut yellow midi-length dress with bow detail while being accompanied by her husband, George. I also have to commend Serena Williams who wore a beautiful Versace dress in a pale pink, later changing into a Valentino maxi dress for the evening reception. Also, Carey Mulligan’s choice of Erdem was perfectly matched with her delicate head-piece.
Within the wedding party Her Majesty chose a beautiful lime and purple Stewart Parvin ensemble, wearing a printed shift dress underneath her signature style coat and Angela Kelly hat – while keeping on the green theme the Mother of the Bride, Doria Ragland, chose an Oscar de La Renta pistachio coat and dress with delicate embroidery detailing. Meanwhile, the Duchess of Cornwall wore an Anna Valentine dress coat with a beautiful statement headpiece!
Sofia Wellesley, James Blunt’s wife, was in new season Valentino and looked beautiful – pairing it with chocolate brown suede shoes and simple cream accessories. I believe this outfit split opinion but for us it was a definite winner. Kitty Spencer wore the colour of Autumn/Winter 2018, forest green, with a beautiful print on the skirt and was another star of the show.
However, nothing could out-shine Ms Markle, now the new Duchess of Sussex. In a beautiful Clare Waight Keller for Givency pure silk gown Meghan walked down the aisle. The Independent’s feature on the gown (you can read it here) is my favourite – detailing every aspect of the gown from the weight of the fabric to the detailing on the veil.
We loved the day, the perfect weather, beautiful fashion and the unique twists on the day which were important to the couple – from the gospel choir to Meghan’s choice to enter on her own and down to the simple bouquet which Groom Harry had picked himself.
