Our History

Our History

Jane Davidson is a family run business, founded in 1969 in The Grassmarket, Edinburgh by Jane Davidson, now Jane Hall. The original boutique sold only British brands such as Jean Muir, Ozzie Clark, and Jean Varon and was attached to a church in the Old Town. It was decorated in the style of a smart French Salon. Our History

Present Day

The boutique is now owned by Sarah Murray, her daughter, and is based in a Georgian townhouse on Thistle Street. The boutique is discreetly located in Edinburgh’s elegant New Town in the thick of the upmarket shopping area. The boutique has grown steadily since it opened on the ground floor of its current site and has expanded over 4 floors in the last 10 years.

Over the years Jane Davidson has introduced many high profile brands to Scotland; Jimmy Choo, Roland Mouret and more recently Dries Van Noten and Isabel Marant.

Jane Davidson showcases International fashion brands; many exclusively to Scotland. Our designer brands include Diane von Furstenberg, Queene & Belle, J Brand, Smythe, Nanushka and Veronica Beard.

The philosophy behind the boutique is very much centred around exceptional customer service and a relaxed atmosphere. In winter there is a real fire and on entering the boutique you will be offered a coffee or tea. Our personal shoppers each have their own unique style and personality and bring a wealth of experience to the boutique.

They will encourage you to try things you would never normally have dreamt of. Customer purchases are all carefully logged so that our clients get the most from their wardrobes each year.
